On July 27, 2008, a 15-year old female was accosted by an unknown male suspect as she was walking home from a local park at approximately 8:30 p.m. The suspect pulled the victim into a nearby alley and raped her.

The following day, the victim assisted with the creation of a police sketch. It was posted in several local businesses asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. The victim’s brother used the sketch to search the area for the suspect. Within a few days, the victim’s brother was successful in identifying a possible suspect who strongly resembled the sketch. Officers from the Montclair Police Department responded and arrested the suspect. They noted the suspect matched the sketch and during a later interview.

The most shocking revelation was that the suspect was only 13 years old; and, because he is a minor, his booking photograph cannot be displayed. The suspect was captured within one week.
